Dog Agility Classes for Montrose, CO Dog Owners

Looking for dog agility in Montrose? You don't need a competition dream or a fully equipped training field to get started. First Class Agility is run by Kaitlyn Rohr, a Team USA competitor and National champion with more than 20 years in the sport, and her approach is simple: build a great connection between you and your dog, and the rest follows.

We work with pet-dog owners who want a fun, confidence-building activity and with handlers aiming for the competition ring. Our in-person classes are in Loma, about an hour and a half from Montrose, so for most Montrose handlers the best way to train with us is online.

Agility just for fun

Agility is one of the best ways to give an energetic dog a job. You'll build focus, confidence and communication, and you can do it in your own backyard, living room or driveway. No competing required, no experience needed, and dogs of every breed, size and age are welcome.

Ready to compete

If you're aiming for the ring, you'll train with a coach who competes at the top of the sport: podium finishes at USDAA Regionals, UKI Classics and UKI Festivals, a NAC Championship title, and a place on Team USA at the IFCS World Agility Championships in Valencia, Spain, where the team earned two gold medals and one silver. Kaitlyn's foundation-focused style helps you build the handling skills and teamwork that hold up under pressure.

Two ways to train

1. Train online, from home in Montrose. Train one-on-one with Kaitlyn over Zoom from your own home. Lessons are one hour and cost $120. No drive required: just you, your dog and a little space.

2. Train in person in Loma or Silt. Montrose handlers are welcome at either location. Many Montrose handlers plan a trip for a lesson, workshop or seminar and keep training online in between.

What to expect from your first class

We start by getting to know you and your dog and where you are right now.

You'll work on foundation skills and connection, not perfect obstacle performance.

What to bring: your dog and an open mind, plus high-value and medium-value treats, toys (if your dog enjoys them), water and a water bowl, a leash and a crate.

Questions beforehand are always welcome.
